Leah De Forest was born in Geelong, Australia, and lives in Boston. Her fiction and essays have appeared in Ohio University’s Quarter After Eight (nominated for a Pushcart Prize), Bodega Magazine (also nominated for a Pushcart), Fiction Writers Review, LEON Literary Review, Monash University’s Verge 2020,  Kill Your Darlings, Eureka Street, Overland, and The Canberra Times.

Her fiction has been long-listed for the inaugural Richell prize for emerging writers, highly commended in the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an Unpublished Manuscript and shortlisted for the Varuna Publisher Fellowship Program. 

Leah teaches writing at the Harvard Extension and Summer Schools (where she is also an academic advisor in the graduate writing program), is an editor at Bloom, was a contributor in fiction at the 2022 Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and holds an MFA from the Program For Writers at Warren Wilson College. She’s worked as a journalist, book reviewer, columnist, speech writer, and public servant.
